Blaina Community Sports Club was set up in 2019 to enable sports to continue being played at Central Park, Blaina. Due to financial constraints being placed on the Local Authority, the ground had to be Asset Transferred to allow the facility to continue to operate. At that time, Blaina RFC and Blaina Cricket Club joined together to form the new organisation, and we hope to go from strength to strength with our combined resources.

 

Blaina RFC is more than a club, it’s a family with over 140 years of history and at the heart of its community. We are a non-profit community-focused club and we value our partnerships within the local area which help us to survive. Without the support of our wonderful volunteers, community groups and local businesses recent development wouldn’t have been possible, and your continued support helps to make the club run efficiently and effectively. Blaina Cricket Club likewise has a long and proud history. Formed in 1853, it is one of the oldest cricket clubs in Wales and has boasted some excellent players over the years. Indeed back in the day, they have hosted International opposition at the picturesque Central Park ground that they have called home for decades.

 

At the heart of every community are its sports team and its local clubhouse. We at Blaina are no different; however, since our previous rugby club was closed, for many years now Blaina RFC has used other premises as a base. Despite us being welcomed with open arms elsewhere, nothing can compare to having a home of our own.

With everything going on in the world today, it’s time for us as a club to step up and provide for our community. To create something of our own where you can forget about the outside world whilst sampling a refreshment or two surrounded by great people whilst looking out onto the fantastic setting of Central Park. For many years we have dreamed about creating a clubhouse, base and centre where we can all share brilliant memories. A club that will welcome everyone from the community, and provide facilities that can be used by many diverse groups. A place that can you call home at Central Park.

 

Everyone at the club has been working incredibly hard behind the scenes to turn this dream into a realistic goal. After months of hard work, we are now at a point where work has started to create our new base for Blaina Community Sports Club and we can’t wait to share with you the progress. But we can’t do it alone and now we need your help more than ever to turn this dream into a reality. This is your opportunity to be a part of this journey with us.
